Caye Caulker

We will spend two nights on the beautiful island of Caye Caulker. The snorkelers will be in heaven as we board our boat and head out to the Barrier Reef in the new section of the Hol Chan marine reserve, which is only about one mile from Caye Caulker.

We will start at the Coral Gardens, where you will be dazzled by coral formations teeming with marine life in pristine waters. After spending time snorkeling at the Coral Gardens, we will take a four-minute ride to the famous Shark/Ray Alley. 

Don’t worry. Both the rays and nurse sharks are harmless. To prove the point, your tour guides will enter the water with you to help you make the most of your snorkeling experience. As rays glide around you, your guides will draw your attention to the most spectacular underwater sights and offer snorkeling advice. If you’re lucky, a couple of the friendlier nurse sharks may join the fun.

Cave Tubing & Zip Lining

Welcome to the hallowed grounds of the Caves Branch River Archaeological Reserve. Upon arriving, your guides will outfit you with your cave tubing equipment, including an adjustable headlamp, life jacket, and inner tube.

After your safety briefing, you will embark on a nature walk through lush, tropical rainforest and caves once inhabited by the ancient Mayans. Often celebrated for their discoveries in math and science, the Mayans believed the caves were a supernatural realm where their ancestors resided, as well as the deities of nature, such as rain, thunder and lightning. Along the way, your tour guide will point out native species of plant and animal life.

At the end of your nature trail, you will enter into the Caves Branch River to embark on an adventure like no other. Your tubing ride will take you through waters that range from placid to quick-moving rapids. Conditions permitting, our tours will pass through two cave systems, featuring enormous chambers with cathedral-sized rooms. Watch in amazement as your headlamp shines on bizarre limestone shapes, stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and, ultimately, into the darkness beyond. Listen to water dripping from spectacular ceiling formations or to your own voice bounce off distance walls.

Whether you’re an adventure seeker or a nature lover, ziplining is an experience you won’t soon forget. You’ll glide along a steel cable at eye level with the treetops of the rainforest at a smooth and gentle pace. The ziplining course is configured with eight separate platforms to give you a variety of perspectives on the rainforest ecosystem. The distance between the platforms ranges from 40 to 300 feet.

Safety is the starting point of your tour. The ziplining course you’ll be traversing has the longest track record of any complex in Belize and was built to the standards of the Association for Challenge Course Technologists. Each participants is given a safety briefing and carefully outfitted with a body harness, pulleys, helmet, and gloves. Your guides will continue to offer instruction, advice, and local insight as they accompany you along the course.

Tikal National Park

We will cross the border into Guatemala for a full day of adventure discovering the magnificent ancient city of Tikal. Archeologists estimate that the Maya settled this area in about 900 BC. It encompasses 575 square kilometers of jungle and thousands of ruined structures--the ancient city center alone contains 3,000 buildings.

In addition to the amazing ruins and jungle you may see plenty of wildlife including spider monkeys, howler monkeys, toucans, parrots and coatamundis! 

The ruins are also famous for being used as a filming location for Yavin 4 in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The shot where a Rebel oversees the Millennium Falcon landing on Yavin was taken on top of a building known as Temple IV looking east where Temples I, II and III can be seen on film. 

We will return to our hotel in San Ignacio where we will spend the night.

We’ll take speed boats for the trip through the jungle river “New River” to the Maya ruins of Lamanai.  We’ll see amazing scenery, and plenty of wildlife like snail kites, jacana, morelet’s crocodile and iguanas along the way.

We will enjoy a traditional Belizean lunch at the ruins before returning to our boats and back to Orange Walk. 

Wake up to the sound of singing birds as you anticipate a new day of discovery and fun. You will love the tastes and smells and local cuisine prepared just for you. The staff at each hotel will help you feel like you’ve arrived at your new tropical home when near the "jungle" or the "reef". This is the beautiful life of Belize.

Jungle River Boat & Lamanai Maya Ruins

We’ll take speed boats for the trip through the jungle river “New River” to the Maya ruins of Lamanai.  We’ll see amazing scenery, and plenty of wildlife like snail kites, jacana, morelet’s crocodile and iguanas along the way.

Lamanai was occupied for more than 3,000 years, before European contact in 1544. It is the largest Maya site in Belize. The most famous attraction here is the well-preserved mask of a Maya ruler emerging from a crocodile headdress. It rests on the 30-mile-long New River Lagoon and is surrounded by a tropical forest. We’ll have amazing views from several of the large temples.

We will enjoy a traditional Belizean lunch at the ruins before returning to our boats and back to Orange Walk.
